The decision came after Brazil's Lower House approved the continuation of impeachment proceedings against President Dilma Rousseff in a marathon and controversial session on Sunday.
In his resignation letter, Braga listed his achievements since he took office in January 2015, among them the increase in Brazil's wind power capacity – now up to 8.3GW from just under 6GW at the end of 2014 – and the implementation of policies for the PV sector, including technology-specific tenders that have already contracted 3GW to be built by 2017.
