The Union of Heavy Construction Workers and Industrial Assembly of the State of Bahia (Sintepav) will hold an assembly to decide whether to approve the strike.

Although not directly related to the political situation, the strike highlights growing uneasiness in the face of rising inflation in a declining economy.

According to Sintepav, the strike may affect 225 construction sites in the state, including 44 in wind and the first utility-scale solar PV projects, transmission lines, along with subway systems in the state capital Salvador, a trans-national railroad, water and sanitation works, highways, dams and other large construction projects.
