The target – set out in its INDC announced at the COP21 meeting in Paris last year – includes doubling the amount of non-hydro power supply to 23% from current levels, mainly through an increase in solar, wind and biomass generation.
President Michel Temer said the agreement would be deposited at the United Nations on 19 or 20 September. The ratification follows in the footsteps of China and the US, which also ratified their INDCs last week.
