The announcement forms part of Brazil’s Intended Nationally Determined Contributions (INDC) goals to reduce its greenhouse gases (GHG) emissions by 43% from 2005 levels by 2030.
The targets for renewables also include a goal of 45% of total energy mix by the same year. That means, excluding hydropower and including biofuels, that the target for renewable energy will range from 28% to 33% of total energy supply.
