In other appointments relevant to renewables, he also named José Sarney Filho as environment minister, Marcos Pereira as trade and industry Minister and Gilberto Kassab as science, technology, innovation and communications minister.
The cabinet changes were made yesterday, a few hours after the Senate approved by 55 votes to 22 the continuation of impeachment proceedings against president Dilma Roussef.
The Senate will now judge Rousseff in up to 180 days, during which time she is suspended from office.
