The average price was 4.4% below the R$213/MWh ceiling. The capacity contracted represented 3% of the total 17.9GW cleared to bid by Brazil's federal energy planning authority (EPE).
Companies that won contracts include EDP Renováveis, Rio Energy and Gestamp. The auction winners will have to conclude projects by 1 November 2018, when the 20-year contracts are due to start.
Total investment is estimated at R$2.4bn.
