Planning and development minister René Orellana Halkyer told local press that by 2030 the country would increase its total power capacity to 13.3GW, up from 1.9GW last year.
An annual 1.2GW increase will allow Bolivia to be an exporter of clean power to the region, Orellana told local newspaper La Opinión.
He added that the COP21 agreement signed in Paris will open up new channels to finance renewables in the country, thanks to the pledge by developed nations to allocate $100bn a year and rising to climate action programmes.
