Progression had submitted an “unsolicited” lease request to BOEM, a US Interior Department agency, which oversees wind development in federal waters located beyond state territorial limits on the outer continental shelf.
The developer’s current plans are to mount 50, 8MW turbines on Principle Power’s WindFloat semi-submersible, three-column pontoon design foundations.
It does not rule out moving to a larger 10MW machine - if commercially available and proven in 2018 or 2019 when it will choose a vendor, and if it meets the needs of the project.
