In December 2011 Banks put up a 60m wind mast near Drymen, in the Scottish council area of Stirling, after data from a variety of sources, including the UK’s Met Office, suggested it was a good site for a wind farm.
However, in May 2012 the Durham-based developer put its planning application for Ard Ghaoth on hold after finding the site to have “surprisingly poor” wind speeds, and it has now shelved plans for the ten-turbine project altogether.
