Wind additions fell to 323MW in 2015, or 108 turbines, down from 405MW a year earlier. The country now has a cumulative installed wind capacity of 2.4GW, meeting 8.7% of Austria's electricity needs.
IG Windkraft expects that 242MW in new capacity, or 79 turbines, will be installed throughout 2016.
"The wind power motor starts stuttering and we urgently need a change in framework conditions in order to keep the build-up at its current level," IG Windkraft managing director Stefan Moidl claimed.
