The Alpine country could produce 100% of its power from renewable sources by 2030 if wind expands in line with the potential shown in a new report commissioned by the Austrian wind energy association, IG Windkraft.
The study, carried out by the Energiewerkstatt consultancy, took into account the likely technical, economic and socio-political developments in the coming 15 years, as well as an analysis of existing wind expansion and zoning plans of Austrian states.
