Environment minister Simon Corbell says ACT is demonstrating that a transition to a renewable energy future is achievable, affordable, and is creating jobs.
The territory that includes Australia’s capital city Canberra has remained a staunch backer of renewables, often in sharp contrast to the support given at a federal level.
Corbell says ACT will increase the size of its upcoming third wind energy auction from 109MW to 200MW, which will have the effect of lifting ACT from 90% to 100% renewables by 2020.
