AGL – Australia’s biggest power generator – expects to raise about A$500m ($389m) for its share of Macarthur, which it built with New Zealand utility Meridian Energy and which started operations in 2013.
Meridian exited the Vestas-equipped Macarthur in mid-2013, when it sold its half-share in the Victoria wind farm to Malaysian power-producer Malakoff.
AGL said the Macarthur sale is part of A$1bn it hopes to raise through “non-strategic and under-performing asset divestments” by the end of the 2017 financial year.
