The government of Prime Minister Tony Abbott issued a new draft directive to the CEFC excluding wind and small-scale solar from the range of renewables the body can invest in, saying it should only back “new and emerging technologies”.
Critics said the directive, which would apply to future CEFC funding decisions, will further undermine Australia’s status as an investment destination.
The CEFC itself said it will take legal advice on the planned change of mandate.
