The prototype, funded as part of the EU's KIC InnoEnergy FlowBox project, will be a 150kW scale-up of a 50kW flow battery designed by EnStorage that stores energy using a combination of hydrobromic acid and hydrogen.
Areva will head-up the project, manufacturing, integrating and installing the storage solution, while Schneider Electric will design, manufacture and install the complementary power conversion system.
