The BSH has told project developers that it will no longer pursue early licensing procedures for wind projects that are located more than 100km from the coast, a BSH spokeswoman told Recharge, because the federal grid agency BNetzA doesn't plan grid links for those far-away projects at this point.

"If the federal government wants the Energiewende (energy transition), then its dependent agencies need to take the means in hand that make a steady build-up of offshore wind energy possible," Jörg Kuhbier, chairman of the Offshore Wind Energy Foundation, said in a joint statement by several offshore wind groups.

"The
