Energy and climate change secretary Amber Rudd kicked off the assault with a new shock for the onshore wind industry, telling a parliamentary committee that onshore is not expected to be part of future rounds under the new contracts-for-difference (CfD) support system.
Rudd’s comments were met with dismay by a battered onshore wind industry, which claims the new government is unfairly discriminating against the most cost-effective form of renewables generation which will already soon be subsidy free.
