Alstom shareholders back GE deal at Paris meeting

Alstom said 99.2% of the votes cast at today’s extraordinary meeting in Paris backed the transaction.

The Alstom-GE agreement was one of the biggest corporate news stories of 2014, with the two finally reaching a deal in June after a contest with Germany’s Siemens, which also had designs on Alstom’s power interests and tried to derail GE’s bid with its own proposal made in conjunction with Japan's Mitsubishi Heavy.
