The French OEM said the sign-off is “a major step and a prerequisite for commercial operation, demonstrating the wind turbine’s overall efficiency”.
Prototypes of the Haliade – which will be manufactured at Alstom’s new production facility in St Nazaire – have been operating onshore at Le Carnet, France, since 2011 and offshore in Belgian waters since late 2013.
Alstom said final tests of the Le Carnet turbine “verified that the wind turbine was perfectly compliant with the design models in terms of its reliability, manufacturing and the maintenance of its main components”.
