The €270m ($397m) wind farm on the northern Black Sea coast, which uses 52 Vestas turbines, was opened by Bulgarian Prime Minister Boiko Borisov on 6 October.
Before the start up of Sveti Nikola, Bulgaria’s installed wind power capacity stood at 159MW. The project received financing from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the International Finance Corporation and UniCredit Markets and Investment Banking.
