Testing will begin from December at Dynalab (Dynamic Nacelle Testing Laboratory), which IWES will inaugurate on 20 October.
The 8MW offshore turbine is the flagship product of Adwen, a joint venture in offshore wind between Gamesa of Spain and French power group Areva.
The drive-train testing at Dynalab will include simulation of offshore conditions for extreme- and fatigue-loads, and complete operation at full power as the turbine moves towards prototype installation in 2016.
