The projects will begin supplying electricity onto Chile’s grid in 2017, and be paid over a 20-year period, Mainstream said in a statement.

Aela – owned 60% by private-equity investor Actis and 40% by Ireland-based developer Mainstream – has a $400m capital fund, and intends to build 600MW in Chile in the coming years.

Mainstream, present in Chile for seven years, will complete the development of the two wind farms.
