ABB will design, manufacture, supply and commission the 157km of 220kv HVAC extruded cabling that will tie the development, located in 21-55 metres of water 15km off the UK coast, to shore, along with a further 24km of underground line linking it to the country's grid.
"The Walney Extension cable link will help deliver clean renewable power to more than one million people,” said Claudio Facchin, president of ABB’s Power Systems division.
