The Northeast Agra 800kV transmission project will supply clean power from northeast India to some 90 million people in the country.

The link spans more than 1,700km and is being built by Zurich-based power technology specialist ABB and local power group BHEL.

The completed 6GW UHVDC project, due for commissioning in 2016, will boast a world record converter capacity with provision for contingencies, said ABB.
