The business will be split in two, probably in the 2016 fiscal year. The core operation, retaining the E.ON name, will focus on renewables. A spin-off unit that the utility refers to for the moment as the New Company will house its fossil-fuel and nuclear assets, plus its energy-trading, exploration and production businesses, with E.ON initially retaining a minority equity share.
