The wind farm is Iberdrola's fifth facility in a country that ranks fourth in wind capacity in the hemisphere behind the US, Canada and Brazil.

Mexico has 2.6GW of installed wind generation capacity, with Iberdrola owning 366MW.

Iberdrola chief executive Ignacio Galan lauded Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto for moving to reform an energy sector dominated by state companies for the past 75 years, saying it is the start of a new era for renewables in the country.

“This
