Green sources met 32.5% of electricity needs this year, up from 27.4% in 2014, according to the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Energiebilanzen (AGEB) – or working group on energy balances.

The AGEB was founded by the energy sector and research institutes, and compiles consumption data that serves as a basis for Germany's energy policy.

Renewables in 2015 have boosted their share of German power generation amid record additions of wind, with new onshore capacity likely reaching 4GW or more and new offshore a record 2GW.
