Wind power prices could be pushed up at this month’s Brazilian power tender, warned its national industry body after it failed in a bid to have the auctions suspended to amend the power purchase agreements (PPAs) on offer.

Brazilian Wind Power Association (ABEEólica) unsuccessfully asked national power regulator Aneel to remove from the PPAs new provisions obliging wind generators to account for delivery of contracted power monthly, and to buy power in Brazil's volatile spot market to make up shortfalls caused by factors such as low wind.
