Wind surpassed coal as an electricity source for the first time in the main Texas grid over a six-month period, generating 21.78% of electric power consumed through 30 June, according to system operator ERCOT.
Natural gas was number one with a 44% share, coal was third (21.37%), then nuclear (11.35%) and solar (1.1%) with the balance mainly from biomass and hydro.
