China’s Sinoma has been granted the first laboratory approval certificate for a structure test centre given by DNV GL, clearing the way for trials of blades for 12MW offshore turbines at the technology supplier’s four-rig facility in Funing.

The award for the centre, which features two indoor and two outdoor rigs capable of testing blades over 120-metres in length, followed an extensive audit for static and fatigue testing procedures “focusing on the quality [of the] system and test ability and conformity”.
