The global wind power build-out is set to mushroom by more than 90% in the next decade to reach an installed base of almost 1TW, supercharged by a Chinese market expected to notch up almost half of newly added capacity during this period, according to the latest figures from Fitch Solutions.

The consultancy forecasts that a total 465GW of wind power will be switched on between 2017-2027, taking the worldwide fleet to 980GW, though the sector's share of total non-hydro-power renewable energy plant will slip from 50% to 47% as the global solar power sector up-shifts to account for 45% of capacity, compared to 38% in 2017.
