The state of New York has launched its first offshore wind solicitation, seeking at least 800MW as it competes with Massachusetts and New Jersey for supply-chain investment, with the winning developer to be announced next spring.
New York will offer developers 25-year contracts for projects ranging from 200MW to 800MW, and the state has left itself the opportunity to procure even more than 800MW if the right offer is on the table.
