Microsoft’s global renewable energy portfolio exceeds 1.2GW after revealing it had signed a 15-year power purchase agreement earlier this year with Canada’s TransAlta to enable construction of a 90MW wind farm in the US state of Pennsylvania.

With the Big Level project, Microsoft will procure wind and other renewable electric power on three continents and six US states.

This geographical footprint is among the largest for any investor-owned company as Corporate America accelerates and broadens its transition to cleaner energy sources.
