The new Socialist minority government in Spain is promising the country’s long-suffering renewables sector the support, stability and certainty that it has craved for years, after the previous administration under Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy brought expansion to a virtual halt.

In 2013, when Rajoy abolished the country’s feed-in tariff (FIT), Spain was the world’s fourth-largest wind market, with 23GW installed, but since then only a few megawatts have been added.
