The French offshore wind sector today breathed a huge sigh of relief as government and developers reached a deal over tariff renegotiations that should finally see the first 3GW of projects advance off its coasts.

The French government had insisted that six projects awarded in tenders as long ago as 2012 and 2014 must accept lower rates than the €200 ($247) per megawatt hour levels on offer back then, which it said was bad value for taxpayers following steep sector cost reductions since.
