Taiwan International Windpower Training Corporation (TIWTC) and Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) have inked a letter of intent (LoI) with the Global Wind Organization (GWO) to build a training centre in Taichung to skill-up technicians for the coming boom in offshore wind off the island nation.

A timeline for the finalisation of the agreement, which covers collaboration between TIWTC and SGRE on the implementation of international GWO training programmes, has not been set but expectations are that construction of the training centre will get underway in the third quarter of 2018, with first courses starting as soon as in the first quarter of 2019.
