Canada’s Beothuk Energy is still advancing its 180MW St. George’s Bay development off the western coast of Newfoundland, despite chief executive Kirby Mercer saying last July that it might exit the project unless an off-take deal was in place by the end of 2017.

“Obviously, we’re still here,” he told The Western Star newspaper.

Mercer says progress in being made in ongoing negotiations between Beothuk and its joint venture partners with the Newfoundland and Labrador government.
