TransAlta Renewables, an affiliate of Canadian power-generation giant TransAlta, has agreed to acquire two construction-ready wind farms in the northeastern US – tripling its number of facilities south of the border.

Calgary, Alberta-based TransAlta Renewables says it will buy a 90MW project in Pennsylvania with a 15-year PPA, and a 29MW project in New Hampshire with two 20-year PPAs.

It will cost an estimated $240m to build the wind farms, the company said in a statement.
