The government in Warsaw has decided to build Poland’s first nuclear power plant with a capacity of 1.2GW, possibly in the Lubiatowo-Kopalino or the Żarnowiec region, state-owned Radio Poland says, citing local media reports.

Energy minister Krzysztof Tchorzewski is quoted as saying the construction within ten years of the nuclear plant would cost around PLN24bn ($6.6bn), which he said would be similar to the cost of building offshore wind farms of the same size.
