In South Africa the war rages on between the renewable energy sector and state utility provider Eskom, with international developers urging a “swift resolution” to a dispute that threatens to undermine the country’s hard-won status as a global leader.

In the latest twist, the government funded Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) reveals that calculations used by Eskom to claim that renewable energy created an economic deficit of 9bn rand ($662m) in 2016 are incorrect.

Eskom
