Brexit knocks UK further down in attractiveness for RE

Question marks hanging over Britain’s renewables industry thrown up by Brexit, the dismantling of the government’s Department for Energy and Climate Change (DECC) and the approval of the Hinkley Point C nuclear power station, have knocked the UK to a new all-time low on EY’s table of the world’s most attractive sector markets.

The UK fell one place to 14 from 13 in the consultancy’s Renewable energy country attractiveness index (Recai), despite progress made in its offshore wind sector with the green-light for the giant 1.8GW Hornsea project. Morocco for the first time climbed into 13th place.
