The move follows the recent completion of production work on one of its P2 ‘sea snake’ machines for ScottishPower Renewables.
Edinburgh-based Pelamis last month quietly revealed plans for a “general restructuring” as it moves from a “manufacturing focus to an operational phase”.
Pelamis now admits it will fire 20 of its 70 employees, with all the losses to come at its Leith production facility in Scotland, in order to “deliver the required balance of skills” it needs in the future.
