The DoE money comes via Northwest Energy Innovations in Oregon, which is collaborating on the project to more effectively harness the complex water movements experienced in ocean deployment.
The concept, a ‘point absorber’ wave power device described as having “special characteristics”, was hatched by Industrial Research Limited (IRL).
It is being advanced through a tie-up with Power Projects as part of the Wave Energy Technology New Zealand (Wet-NZ) research and development programme.
