The £450,000 ($710,000) scheme, which will run until the end of 2012, aims to produce models of the whole UK continental shelf to explore how energy extraction at one site may affect availability elsewhere.

Led by consulting and engineering company Black & Veatch, the project will look at a range of possible future tidal stream and tidal range sites, while seeking to identify what constraints these interactions will place on the design, development and location of future systems.
