Darwin-based company Tenax Energy will develop the A$500m ($475m) scheme after being granted a licence by the Northern Territory government to occupy an area within Clarence Strait. "Tenax Energy is seeking approval to install 455MW at the site, capped at 200MW initially to take account of grid restraints," Tenax managing director Alan Major tells Recharge .

The initial capacity will use 200 1MW turbines, covering an area of 1,690 hectares.
