The 991.8m ringgit ($316.3m) project will involve the construction of two dams and the installation of two hydro turbines and generators in an underground power station on the upper reaches of Terengganu upstream of Kenyir Lake.

The project is expected to be completed and the station made operational by October 2015, Tenaga Nasional reveals last week.

The first agreement is made with the joint venture of Loh & Loh Construction and Sinohydro Corporation, which will construct the two dams, a water transfer tunnel and an underground power house at a contract price of 828.3m
