The system is a grid of buoys and ropes that will link the 15-square-metre E1 devices in a horizontal chain. It is expected to slash the cost of installing and maintaining the company’s wave-energy converters (WECs), which harness energy from horizontal wave movements using a water-wings concept.
The frame of ropes will be rigged to the seabed using a synthetic rope-and-chain mooring spread, finished off with drag-embedded anchors.
