Scotland has struggled to connect its vast potential for renewable energy with its primary electricity grid. But officials have increasingly come to support the idea of micro-renewable generation in areas of very low population density.
“New renewable energy developments, large and small, have a key role to play in Scotland’s economic recovery,” says Scottish energy minister Jim Mather.
