Scotland’s environment minister Roseanna Cunningham says that the Forestry Commission Scotland has already begun inviting developers to submit project proposals.

Cunningham made the announcement while cutting the ribbon at RWE npower renewables’ new ‘Inverlael’ hydroelectric plant near Loch Broom, in Wester Ross. The 2.5-megawatt (MW) plant harnesses waters from the Allt Mor and River Lael.

The announcement flies in the face of Scotland’s Renewables Action Plan (RAP), which was unveiled in July, and acknowledged that certain renewables sectors would have a much smaller role to play in meeting the country’s 2020 targets than others.
