Regulators in the state have already approved the deal for Puget -- the largest utility–owned producer of renewable electricity in the Pacific Northwest.
Puget Energy has nearly 400 Megawatts of wind power capacity, plus 500 kilowatts of solar capacity at a demonstration project at Wild Horse. The company also has about 1,700 MW of hydropower in its fuel mix.
The investor group acquiring the utility include Australia’s Macquire Group, the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, and British Columbia Investment Management Corp.
